What does membership provide?

As well as our parent organisation, the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA), providing standard services such as:

  • Bee Diseases Insurance
  • BBKA News magazine

The High Weald Beekeepers' Association provides the following extras:

  • The Association Apiary
    The Association maintains the Horsted Green Apiary just on the West of Uckfield
    It is primarily used for training of existing and potential members but could also be used as a resource for members moving colonies (contact the apiary manager for more information)
  • A Comprehensive Library
    The Association has a library of around 200 books and publicatiions
    A valuable collection for those members wishing to research, educate themselves, or just wanting a good read (contact the librarian for more information)
  • Microscopy Equipment
    The Association has a collection of Microscope related equipment, Microscope, Centrifuge, Camera etc. (contact Paul for more information)
  • Honey Extraction Equipment
    The Association has a number of extractors for member use (contact Paul for more information)
  • Our own online quarterly magazine, The Apiarist

  • WhatsApp groups - either for General Discussion - or specifically for Swarm notifications

  • Emails for:- Equipment for Sale; Out-Apiary opportunities etc.

  • We can put you in touch with other beekeepers near to you if you would like a "Bee Buddy"

  • Help and Support with taking the BBKA assessments and modules

  • We hold regular "Bee Banter" get-togethers at the end of each month
    these are a great opportunity to meet and chat to other local beekeepers over a drink
  • We also hold seasonal get-togethers at Christmas and in the summer
    (partners are most welcome)
  • We hold training / improver sessions in our association apiary for season-specific issues (e.g. swarm control)
  • We often have stalls at local fetes and fairs
    these are an opportunity to sell your honey, or just get involved with spreading the beekeeping word
